Construction vocabulary is inconsistent, and the same word often means different things to a landlord, a lender, and a contractor. These are the definitions we use on real projects across Northeast Georgia, written without the jargon.
Build-Out
A build-out is the construction work that turns an unfinished or generic commercial space into a finished space a specific business can operate in — framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and finishes built to that tenant’s layout and requirements.
